- If you aren’t using a light or an appliance, turn it off!

- Plug TVs, DVDs and other electric appliances into power strips and cut off the strips when not using.
- Close blinds on hot days and open them on cold sunny days.
- In winter, set your heating/cooling (HVAC) thermostat on 68° or lower; set on 78° or higher in summer.
- Use ceiling fans to help circulate air while you are in the room, so that you can set your thermostat higher in the summer.
- Don’t cover or block HVAC registers.
- Keep lamps and other heat-emitting electronics away from your HVAC thermostat to avoid causing false readings and making your system run when it shouldn’t.
- Clean or replace HVAC system filters monthly.
- Repair leaky faucets, especially if the leak is coming from the hot water side or if you are using a pump.
- Never set your water heater above 125° due to the danger of scalding.
- Insulate the tank and pipes of your water heater. Place water heater in conditioned space for most efficient operation.
